Viviane and Philip
On the his way home one day, John Kisia notice something moving within a plastic bag that had been discarded by the roadside. When he looked he found a 6 week old baby - it was Viviane. He took her to the police and after talking to his wife they decided to adopt her. About a year later, John's wife heard a noise in some nearby bushes - it was a baby boy, wrapped in towels and only a few days old. John and his wife decided to adopt him too. The couple adopted both children even though they themselves struggle to themselves (neither is employed). Four years ago John and his wife both found out they are HIV positive. John's wife is very weak and stays at home. John goes out everyday in search of work (he occasionally gets day work) but runs into prejudice when people learn he is HIV positive.

The couple could not afford the expenses of school for Vivian and Philip but Sam and Lucy took them in last year. John has had a tough life. His father died when he was young and his mother couldn't look after him so the neighbors and relatives looked after him. Because people had helped him when he was young he wanted to do the same, he does the best he can but there are times when he can't even get food for the family. Both kids need some medical attention - Philip has a lump on the stomach that needs to be removed in Nakuru and Vivian needs to visit the dentist because some teeth but at this time they just can’t afford it.
