Sami has been with the Chazon Children's Centre since it's founding in February of 2007. Samuel has two older sisters Grace and Joyce. When Grace was 14 years old she got pregnant. She had Brian but as she is very young she left him with the grandmother, Ann (Sami’s mother). Joyce also became pregnant at a very young age, 13, and her child is now being cared for by the fathers family.
Grace was sent to Nairobi to work as a house girl but the man of the house rapped her and she became pregnant and she now has another boy 1 year old. Grace left Nairobi to live with her aunt in Nakuru. She started a tailoring course but Ann couldn’t pay the fees and Grace never finished it. Ann was struggling a lot with Sami and Brian so Lucy and Samuel decided to take Brian too. Ann is going blind, she has lost her site in one eye and the other is painful and in jeopardy. She doesn’t know what will happen to her kids if she goes blind.
Ann has been a friend of the family for a long time. She worked in the restaurant Samuel and Lucy use to own and now she looks after Jemima (Samuel and Lucy's daughter). Still she still struggles a lot, she has ulcers because of all the stress. She divorced 14 years ago and the father of Sami, Grace and Joyce offers no help.
